Course overview

What Is Innovation Leadership?

Innovation leadership sits where creativity meets leadership: it is the skill of finding better ways of working and the habit of building teams that keep searching for them. This course develops both, covering how to notice opportunities, brainstorm and shape ideas, trial them on a small scale and lead people through the change it takes to implement the best.

Interactive workshops, group exercises and collaborative projects let participants carry one real challenge from ideation to implementation planning, drawing on lessons from past successes and failures that leaders in Costa Rica can use.

The course brings together leaders in Costa Rica from diverse backgrounds and industries, from seasoned executives to aspiring leaders. Through group exercises and collaborative projects they practise moving ideas from ideation to implementation, and the connections they make become a community of innovators committed to driving positive change in their organisations.

Why it matters

Why Innovation Leadership Matters in Costa Rica

Organisations in Costa Rica work in a rapidly evolving world of business, where plans can change overnight. Leaders who adapt with agility, invite creativity and help their people see change as an opportunity keep their organisations growing.

  • Problems without old answers

Fast-changing markets and social and environmental pressures ask for fresh responses.

  • Ideas need a safe home

Ideas stay hidden unless leaders open channels for sharing and celebrate honest attempts.

  • Ideas alone are not enough

Creativity counts once ideas are piloted, compared and built into everyday work.

  • Building for the future

Agile, creative leaders help Costa Rica grow organisations that stand the test of time.

Example exercises and tools

Learn by doing.

Group exercises, tools and realistic scenarios help participants find opportunities, shape ideas and pilot them before committing real time and money.

Group exercises and collaborative projects ask participants to work on a hypothetical brief a leader in Costa Rica might receive, such as a hotel group whose bookings pattern is changing or a public agency wanting fewer complaints. Teams sketch two possible futures, brainstorm responses, prototype the most promising and test it with peers, then plan how they would guide colleagues through the change and keep them on board.
